Capping off the year with Food for the Gods felt right. I had been doing a lot happy, peppy musicals both for humor and serious matters in the end about scary things like ghosts, telekinesis, and vampires, but the container in me of reality hadn’t been filled this year yet. And Food for the Gods did just that. My first puppeteering experience went to a show that stole a piece of my heart. Food for the Gods was a captivating and artistic immersive piece of art. A piece with few words aside from a few monologues about racial commentary and violence against the black man today and throughout history, was heart breaking. Food for the Gods gave these men somewhere to go, it gave them the respect, love, time, and the gold silverware and dishwater they deserved. And being a part of a cast giving the service and honor due felt necessary.
